Praise Jesus, Who Obeyed the Father

“…He humbled himself and became obedient to death-even death on a cross.”  Philippians 2:8

“For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one Man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.” Romans 5:19

Jesus, we give You praise for being obedient to the Father’s will, even though it meant suffering and death. Thank You so much that Your obedience brought the gift of forgiveness and eternal life.

Pray for Hearts that Obey the Lord

“Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh.” Jonah 3:3

“And this is love: that we walk in obedience to His commands…” 2 John :6

Just as Jonah went to Nineveh, we pray that students and staff would obediently go where You are sending them. Some assignments may seem insignificant like walking across the cafeteria to sit with a lone classmate or resisting the temptation to speak negatively about a student in the teachers’ lounge.  But we recognize that each of Your instructions has purpose and significance. Give each person grace to obey, especially when the task is difficult.

Pray for Hearts that Obey Earthly Authorities

“Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you…” Joshua 1:17

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” Ephesians 6:1

Lord, we pray that prompt obedience to authority would not be the exception but the rule in our classrooms and homes. May new thought patterns be created in the minds of our children so that their first inclination is to fully obey You, their parents and their teachers, for this is right.

“Whenever the conviction of God’s Spirit comes there is the softening of the whole nature to obey; but if the obedience is not instant there will come a metallic hardening and a corrupting of the guidance of God.” -Oswald Chambers, early 20th century Scottish Baptist evangelist
